This article aims to bring light on certain aspects of the Spinozean ontology via the concept of potentia. Firstly, I will establish that the Spinozean concept of potentia must be comprehended within Spinozas metaphysics of necessity the principle of integral intelligibility of the real and deduce from it that the Spinozas philosophy is a philosophy of surface. This thesis will permit us to define an individual as a relation of forces in equilibrium, and to comprehend Spinozas famous principle of conatus from a new perspective.
