Abstract
의미관리의 리더십 이론에서는 리더십이 기업의 성과에 미치는 영향보다 리더십이 발생하는 사회적 현상 자체에 관심을 둔다. 본 논문에서 리더는 조직구성원들과의 상호작용 프로세스에서 조직구성원들이 현실을 구축하는데 권력으로 작용하며, 이렇게 구축된 의미는 조직구성원들이 바람직한 목표를 위해 조직화된 행동을 하는 기반을 창출하는 것으로 보았다. 구체적으로 의미관리로서의 리더십이 어떤 프로세스와 도구를 통해 이루어지는지 살펴보고, 의미관리의 효과성을 증진하기 위한 방안을 살펴보았다.
Discussing leadership in terms of the management of meaning, this paper tries to view leadership as a social phenomenon rather than to see the direct relationship between leadership and the organizational performance. In this paper, I focus on the concept of the management of meaning, in which the leader is suggested to be an organizational authority to construct the reality through social interaction processes. This “socially constructed reality” makes the meaning in the organization and creates a basis of organized action to accomplish the desirable organizational goal. Based on the theoretical background, the leadership processes and tools for the management of meaning are reviewed, and the way to improve the leadership effectiveness is suggested.
