인터넷 취재로 인한 언론인의 취재활동 및 노동여건, 언론사내 조직위상의 변화: 전국지 지역기자와 지역신문 기자 비교 분석

Abstract

이 연구는 인터넷 취재가 기자들의 취재활동, 노동여건 및 언론사 내 조직 위상에 어떠한 변화를 가져왔는지를 살펴보기 위해 동일취재지역에서 활동하 는 전국지 지역기자와 지역신문 기자를 대상으로 심층인터뷰를 실시하였다. 그 결과 인터넷 도입은 전국지 지역기자와 지역신문 기자 모두에게 취재활동 의 효율성을 가져왔지만, 출입처중심 취재방식과 취재원과의 관계변화는 지역 신문 기자들에게, 취재영역의 파괴는 전국지 지역기자에게 더 두드러진 것으 로 나타났다. 인터넷 취재로 전국지 지역기자와 지역신문 기자 모두 노동강도 가 강화되었다고 응답했으나 특히 지역신문 기자들의 경우 인력부족과 열악한 취재환경을 보전하는 수단으로 인터넷 취재가 이용되고 있었다. 조직위상과 관련하여 전국지의 경우 인터넷 관련부서가 늘고 내근부서의 구조조정이 이뤄 졌지만 지역신문의 경우 취재부서까지 통폐합되고 특히 편집부, 조사부, 사진 부 등의 위상이 큰 변화를 보였으며, 이러한 위상변화는 다시 기자들의 노동 여건을 악화시키는 것으로 나타났다. 이처럼 인터넷 취재는 신문사 조직과 취 재환경에 따라 상이한 영향을 미치고 있으며, 취재환경이 열악할수록 부정적 인 영향을 줄 수 있음을 알 수 있다.

This study is to examine how news gathering through the Internet affects news production system, journalist's labor environment, and the organizational position in editorial office. The depth interview was conducted to national newspaper journalist and local newspaper journalist in Gwangju. Most journalists admit that the Internet is efficient at news gathering activities, but they just accept the Internet as the assistant tool for news gathering. Dependence on beats decreases, and the relationship with news sources get less important specially in case of local newspaper journalists. The Internet extends a physically limited news gathering area to nationwide for national newspaper journalists. The Internet makes the intensity of journalist's labor higher, and sets off against the shortage of journalist in local newspaper. Local newspaper journalists have to take three roles as reporters, editors and revisers. The results show that the Internet is an essential tool for news gathering, lessens dependence on beats. But the Internet intensifies local newspaper journalist's labor, and maintains the seriously bad financial situation of local newspapers.
