환경문제에 관한 인간 행동 양식의 모순성에 대한 작품 연구

Abstract

The beginning of environmental protection was a suggestion of how human beings live together with nature and a choice by human beings for mutual coexistence. Today's nature is being changed and chosen by humans, and, based on the fact that it arises from the center of human thinking rather than from the equal position of both, today's human-centered environmental protection could be identified. The phenomenon of contradictionwas examined, which was created by humans at the point where the purpose of environmental protection is distorted, and this study was done with the aim of creating an image of humanscontradictory attitude based on such present condition. It was witnessed that the manifestation of human selfishness from humans using the inherent values o​f nature as a means, therefore the focus of the study was on the process of the destruction of the meaning and intention of environmental protection over the course of transforming environmental problems into the culture. Through my work, the original meaning of the phenomenon has been explored in a way that reminds me and others of such a meaning. Also, it has been attempted to specify the way to inform others about today's environmental problems while being self-conscious of the original purpose. In this research, the observations centered around environmental problems that were of personal interest as well as factors that influence social changes such as internet videos, articles, and news. In the abnormality that each material implies, my own image and the contradictory attitude of modern people were discovered. The issues of the chicken and fine dust phenomenon as two of the most controversial issues of Anthropocene among today's diverse environmental problems grabbed my attention. In particular, the problems from the overuse of antibiotics for chicken breeding and the use of chick as food ingredients owing to the prevalence of chicken consumption drew the attention of Anthropocene, factory breeding and chicken culture, which ultimately led me to create the process of collecting chickens bones and meat, and to record the phenomenon via stuffed objects and video images. Though the fine dust problem, the form of a gas mask and a smoking room was created on thebasis of the phenomenon of modern peoples self-consciousness and human self-centeredness. Also, the research looked at the phenomenon that the fine dust mask enters the phenomenon of fashion and living space, and personal contradiction. Although this research was begun with exploring contradictory attitudes of modern people based on the environmental problems from my observation, yet, it also contains the process of developing into doubts as to whether environmental protection actually exists ultimately based on contradictory attitudes. This work was a time to reflect on and check back the contradictory attitudes created by modern people including myself. The contradiction occurred during the process of trying to avoid the dilemma made by the causes of familiarity and convenience. I hope that with my work that imaged environmental issues, the proper problem recognition and ethical judgments are made by modern people in the direction that reminds the original meaning of the phenomenon.

환경보호는 인간과 자연이 더불어 살아가는 방법의 제시며, 서 로의 공존을 위한 인간의 선택으로 시작되었다. 오늘날 자연을 보 호한다는 개념은 인간의 사고(思考)를 중심으로 발생한 것이다. 이 러한 현상에서 본인은 오늘날의 인간 중심적인 환경보호와 마주했 다. 본인은 환경보호의 목적이 왜곡되는 지점에서 인간이 만들어 내는 모순의 현상을 발견하였고, 이러한 현태(現態)를 바탕으로 인 간의 모순된 태도를 이미지화하는 것을 목표로 작업하였다. 본인 은 자연이 가진 내재적인 가치를 수단으로 이용하는 인간의 모습 에서 인간의 이기심이 발현되는 현상을 보았으며, 환경 문제가 문 화로 변형되는 과정에서 환경보호의 의미와 의도가 훼손되어 가는 과정에 주목하였다. 본인은 작업을 통해서 현상이 지닌 본래의 의 미를 본인과 타인에게 상기시키는 방향을 탐구하며, 본래의 목적 을 자각함과 동시에 오늘날의 환경보호라는 모순적 요소를 타인 에게 알리는 방법으로 구체화하였다. 본 연구 작업은 개인적으로 관심을 가졌던 환경문제 현상들과 사회적인 변화에 영향을 주고 있는 인터넷 영상과 기사, 뉴스 등 의 요소 위주로 관찰이 이루어졌다. 각각의 소재가 내포하고 있는 이상 현상들에서 본인의 모습과 현대인들의 모순적인 태도를 발견 할 수 있었다. 본인은 다양한 환경 문제 중에서도 오늘날 가장 이 슈가 되고 있는 인류세로서의 닭과 미세먼지 현상에 주목하게 되 었다. 닭의 사육을 위해 과도하게 투여된 항생제와 치킨 소비의 유행으로 말미암아 병아리가 음식 재료로 사용된다. 이러한 문제 점을 통해서 인류세, 공장화 사육, 치킨 문화에 주목해, 닭의 뼈와 고기를 수집하는 과정을 만들었고 박제된 오브제나 영상을 통해 현상을 기록하는 작업을 하였다. 미세먼지 문제를 통해서는 현대인의 자기 위안, 인간의 이기심 등의 현상을 토대로 방독면, 흡연 실과 같은 형태를 만들어 미세먼지 마스크가 패션과 주거 공간 그리고 개인적인 모순의 현상을 관찰하는 작업을 하였다. 본 논문은 본인이 바라보는 환경문제를 바탕으로 현대인의 모순 된 태도를 찾는 것에서 시작되었지만 모순된 태도들을 통해 끝내 는 환경 보호가 실재하는지에 대한 의구심으로 발전하는 과정을 담고 있기도 하다. 본 작업은 본인을 포함한 현대인들이 만들어내 고 있는 모순된 태도를 되돌아보고, 점검해보는 시간이 되었다. 익 숙함과 편리함이라는 원인이 도덕적인 딜레마를 만들어 이를 회피 하고자 하는 과정에서 모순은 발생하였다. 환경문제를 이미지화한 본인의 작업을 통해 현상이 지닌 본래의 의미를 상기시키고자 한 다.
