Abstract
Op. 30(Piano Concerto No. 3 in d minor, Op. 30)》을 기능화성적으로 분석하고, 이를 토대로 연주 방향을 논한 것이다.
As a musician, Sergei Vasilyevich Rachmaninoff(1873-1943) was a composer, pianist, and conductor in the Romantic Period of the late 19th century, and left many piano solos and 4 piano concertos along with various genres of works including vocal music, instrumental and orchestral pieces, operas and so on.
This paper discussed the performance direction of the Piano Concerto No. 3 in d minor, Op. 30, one of his works, based on its functional harmony analysis. The research on this piece was conducted from 4 different perspectives.
First, functional harmony and its notation in the realm of harmony theory, which is to be dealt with in this study, were explained.
Second, the harmonic structure of each movement was examined, and the way of following the traditional form and harmony that escapes from it were analyzed.
Third, it explored how techniques of the late Romantic harmony and chromatic techniques were used through functional harmony analysis. Then, Rachmaninoffs harmonic features were examined based on these harmonic techniques.
Fourth, functional harmony and tonal theory were used for comparison analysis on differentiated parts of each movement, from which how to interpret this comparative analysis was explained from the performers point of view.
In other words, this paper analyzed the piece through the performance direction which is determined by the structure of each movement and it focused on functional harmony analysis through which I could convincingly interpret the performance direction.
Rachmaninoff is known as a composer who pursued the socialist in the West, and did not follow the trend of nationalism in the changing period from the late 19th century to early 20th century. In other word, he was a composer who pursued cosmopolitanism.
Though this analysis, it was found that Rachmaninoff composed his works by combining his own techniques and musical colors in the classical and late romantic music style.
