전문 지휘자의 역할에 대한 고찰 및 제언

Abstract

본 연구의 목적은 각기 다른 악단, 편성, 레퍼토리로 구성된 전문 연주자로서 연구자가 경험한 다양한 사례들을 소개함으로써, 지휘자가 실제 직업의 현장에서 맞닥뜨리게 되는 다양한 상황들과 문제들, 이를 겪은 뒤의 소회와 경험적인 해결방안을 제시하여 전문 지휘자의 역할 수행에 도움을 주는 데 있다. 또한 각각의 연주 사례마다 행해졌던 지휘자로서의 연구자의 주관적 결정의 근거와 그 결과물을 제시하여 후행연구자들에게 의미 있는 참고자료로써 활용되는 데 의의가 있다.

지휘자에게는 비단 몇 시간 동안의 연주와 연습을 책임지는 일 뿐만 아니라, 기획자, 무대 감독, 악단의 경제에도 관여하는 경영자의 역할까지 요구되곤 한다. 지휘자라는 직업이 한 악단을 책임지는 최전선에서, 현대사회상이 반영된 멀티플레이어적 역할수행을 요구 받게 된 것이다. 제한된 시간에 여러 역할의 수행자로서 최선의 결과를 끌어 내야하는 현대의 지휘자들에게 본 연구가 다루는 다양한 사례들을 통한 간접적 경험이 실질적이고 유용한 길잡이가 되기를 바란다.

The purpose of this study is to assist the role of the conductor by presenting examples of professional experiences from various different orchestras, formations, and repertoires, which show the various situations and problems that a conductor encounters in the actual workplace, and offer empirical opinions and solutions to the problems. In addition, it is meaningful to present the basis for the subjective decision made by the researcher as a conductor in each case, with the results to be used as meaningful reference data for subsequent researchers.

A conductor is not only responsible for conducting and practicing for a few hours, but may also be required to play the role of an artistic planner, stage director, or even entrepreneur who is involved in the financial aspect of the orchestra. The profession of the conductor, as the figure at the forefront of an orchestra, has become a multifaceted role that reflects the modern society. Thus, it is hoped that the indirect experience through the various cases discussed in this study will present a practical and useful guide for modern conductors who must produce the best results as versatile workers in multiple roles within a limited amount of time.
