The increasing internationalization of the labor market in Korea is. let alone the inequal socio-economic development of different nation-states. primarily a result of democratic and independent labor movement. which. in turn. reflects immanent problems in the process of rapid economic growth in Korea. There are in general three types of migrant workers in Korea; legal, mostly professional workers. technical trainees. and undocumented. so-called illegal workers. All types of migrant workers are reviewed brieflv at first. but in the survey research the first type had been excluded. because it has little social problems. So in the survey the other two types had been analyzed in detail. with regard to various aspects such as their quantitative size. legal status. skill level and treatment in terms of employment. In other words. all the processes of Human Resources Management regarding migrant workers were included in the analysis. Additionally the roles of contractors and other middlemen in the migration process in Korea. including government's policy. are critically discussed. From the viewpoint that the reality consists not only of objective structure or conditions but also of subjective action or behavior. the living and working realities of migrant workers in Korea are also included in the discussion.-
