Abstract

The meaning of information seems to be different from one academic discipline to another. The present article tries to identify the kinds of information which are needed to the discipline of management science. Management science tries to find out a solution or solutions which could optimize the value of the objective function operating under given constraints. Thus, the present article tries to find out what kinds of information are needed to management scientists who tries to set up a right kind of objective function. The constraints out of which the objective function must be optimized comprise the double inequality which should be satisfied for the survival of the business enterprises. The double inequality states that the value of the commodity should be greater than the price of the commodity, and this, in turn, should be greater than the cost of the commodity. Thus, the present article tries to identify the right kind of information needed to analyze the double inequality.
