Abstract
Recent research suggests the importance of affect or emotion as a potentially major dependent and/or independent variable in understanding and explaining individual behavior. However, little research has focused on the variation of emotion as a response to the situation or stimulus, nor in terms of cognitive differences that relate to the specific situation. Further, what is the role of individual differences in emotional response? Are some individuals more "emotion

prone", especially in a stress situation? The research reported here focuses on the variation of emotion according to the timing surounding an external stimulus, individual differences, and internal cognitions. More specifically, we investigated emotional response that surrounds a common stress/achievement

situation a student examination.
