Abstract
What is city competitiveness and sustainable development of city? Why we should make a study on mechanism of city management, city competitiveness and sustainable development of city? And how the city competitiveness and sustainable development of city were composed? All thes questions were the concern of the paper.

With the development of the urban, almost 50% world people were leave in the city. City is becoming a new subject of the global competitiveness with the Corporation and Government. Research on the city is the hot issue in the economics and business administration area. Research on the city is the hot issue in the economics and business administration area. We can say that city is a boundary of resources. With globalization of the world, Capital, people and technology move around the world. How to catch these resources and let these resources turn around to the citys core competence becomes the concern of government. The research about city competitiveness and sustainable development of city were divided into several parts. Such as city brand research, international city research, sustainable development city research, city regeneration research etc. But as we know, the city competitiveness research was focused on the variable research and other researches were focus on the economics or construction area. So this paper will use cases of great cities of the world to investigate what make cities have more competitiveness and sustainable than other cities. In this paper, it will use the concept of mechanism to define the cause of city competitiveness and sustainable development of city.
