Abstract
Common variable immunodeficiency is a heterogeneous group of disorders
characterized by hypogammaglobulinemia, impaired antibody response and recurrent bacterial
infections. Although it is represented by an acquired defect of humoral immunity, cellular
defect is occasionally found. Though variable, it usually manifests in the second or third
decade of life.
This report deals with a case of common variable immunodeficiency in a 6-year-old boy
who presented with recurrent infections since 3 7/12 years of age, associated with aortic
aneurysm and involvement of the liver, testis and polyserosa, which were believed to be
autoimmune in nature.
