- Abstract
- This paper examines the intellectualistic poetics in postwar era.
Accordings to this poetics, poems are constructed in certain ways. Intellectual strength defies a poem and the technical side of language is also valuable.
First, we explore how mental states emerge in this poetics. The poems contain surrealistic image. The images are evaluated through a method to create modern poetry. Images emerge logically from thought and are also expressed through special techniques in movies.
Second, a discussion on tradition is given. In particular, the modern stage of the tradition is emphasized. Mun dug-su suggests that the tradition is different from past relics. He finds the model of the tradition in Silla. Song ug interprets the tradition from the perspective of comparative literature
Third, poetics excludes politics, though it emphasizes its intellectual vigor. Mun dug-su rejects the notion of combining poetry and reality and pursues a pure image. The period spirit that Kim gyu-dong insists on has only general social implications. Song ug insists that we must possess critical intellectual strength.
