The typical upper garment of ancient Korea is Chŏgori with straight neckline(V-shape, 直領). However the round necked upper garment is worn. In Goguryeo(高句麗)"s visual material, the round necked upper garment is worn as inner garment also outer garment. But in Silla(新羅), and Baekje(百濟), there is no visual material that they wore round necked upper garment. It is just possible to conjecture they wore round necked upper garment from visual material of the 8th and 9th century in Silla. However in Ye(濊), they wore round-necked upper garment regardless of sex prior to Goguryeo(高句麗). Also in Nangnang(樂浪), a wooden statue in round-necked jacket as an outer garment was found. Gaya(伽倻) had inter-exchange with Ye, Nangnang through the medium of iron. So we can guess in Gaya, they wore round-necked upper garment like Ye and Nangnang. And what is more important, Gaya handed down the round-necked upper garment to Japan(倭). Round-necked upper garment was generalized after Tongilsilla(統一新羅). Maybe this new fashion was easily widespread in Tongilsilla because the round-necked upper garment was previously worn by Goguryeo, Gaya and Ye.-
