dc.description.abstractEducation in the later Chosun(朝鮮) Dynasty. Gangseowon(講書院) for the eldest son of the Crown Prince, Ganghakchung(講學廳) for the Prince Royal who will be the Crown Prince, Boyangchung(輔養廳) for the Prince Royal in an infant was established as an educational institute.

Kings in Chosun Dynasty educated the successors to the throne with the object of consolidating own"s power and protecting prince. Retainers also joined in education of the Prince Royal for the purpose of strengthening own"s situations. Attached organizations of Sigangwon was established for these purposes in the 17th century.

YongJo(英祖) strengthened educational function of theses organizations and expanded the objects of Royal Education. JungJo(正祖) systematized the continuities of theses organizations. These arrangements in the 18th century represented promotion of Royal Family.
