dc.description.abstractDeconstructing all the myths of essentialism and identity, the post structuralism also calls into question conventional understanding of sexual identity and gender. This is the context in which queer theory has been produced. Now queer is widely perceived as the most influential interdisciplinary discourse in the field of humanities and social sciences in English speaking countires. Queer problematises the notions of 'women' and 'gay/lesbian' as unified, stable and coherent categories. Given that feminism and gay/lesbian movements in the 70's have been based on the notion of identities, queer marks a break with previous gay liberationist and lesbian feminist models. Under the perspective of queer, politics of identity has been superseded by politics of differences. Thus, the focus has been moved from ontology to epistemology...-
