A human embryo that is thought to belong to age
group XIV of Streeter's developmental horizon is
described. This embryo was obtained incidentally
from the hysterectomy specimen to a 46 years old
woman who was operated for uterine leiomyoma.
The ovulation age of the embryo was 32 days and
the length of that was 6mm.It was serially sectioned
in 4,um thickness and reconstructed with the 358
.section slides.
This embryo was characterized by indentation of
-"the lens vesicle, complete separation of otocyst from
skin ectoderm, septum primum and atrioventricular
canal of the heart, active angiogenesis in the mesenchymal
tissue surrounding the bronchi and the eso-
phagus, incomplete primitive intestinal loop of the
midgut, small dorsal pancreas, primary branches of the bronchi and prominent mesonephros.
From above findings, we conclude that this embryo
belongs to age group XIV of Streeter's developmental
horizon.
