Abstract

This study attempts to provide basic instruction and materials for graduate field work within a limited time frame. The program developed in this study aims to heighten the observation ability and field techniques of students for future regional survey. Therefore, the nature of the program in the given selected field courses is intended to be oriented much more toward teaching and conducting seminars rather than research. For a detailed field course, the study has developed five different areas to be completed within a one day time period. Five areas are all related to the surrounding areas of Seoul Metropolitan Region except for course numbers 4 and 5 which extend to neighbor provinces. Each course is closely related to the graduate course work and has the potential of developing student's own thesis proposal area in near future. All field courses included in this program have been developed by intensive field exercies during the last two years. The program itself provides an instructive and constructive way in which professors and students could be deeply involved in inquiry of area study. At the same time the program could be expanded according to participant's economic condition and time schedule at any time.
