Abstract
The effect of water pollution on the habitat, distribution, microflora, standing crops and indicators of the benthal phytomicro-organisms was investigated in Hong-je stream which is the small branch in the Han river. The results were as follows: (1) According to the results of physicochemical analysis of water quality, water pollution of the down-stream was severer than that of upper-stream. (2) The standing crops of the benthal phytomicro-oranisms had a tendency of increase in proportion to the levels of the water pollution. (3) Benthal phytomicro-organism flora in the studied area was constituted by 7 families, 11 genera, 23 species. Especially, Navicula atomus and Nitzschia palea were considered to be indicators for polysaprobic. (4) The average production rate of the benthal phytomicro-organisms was 1.41g m-2 day-1. So the benthal phytomicro-organisms demanded for 22 days in order to reach to be the average standing crops. (5) Margalefs species diversities and Watanabes biotic indices of upper- and downstream of Hong-je were 154, 0.821, -80 and 0.233, respectively.
