- Abstract
- This study was designed to investigate the the effects of additional reinforcing exercise upon the development of individual skill in basketball. Subjects for the experimental group(N=208) and the control group(N=136) were selected from the Attached Middle School of the College of Education, Seoul National University. During a 6-week basketball course, an additional reinforcing exercise program was administered only to the experimental group. The following conclusions were deduced from the data analysis based on a t-test. In speed-pass test taken after 2 weeks of the basketball course, the experimental group showed a significant increase in passing speed, whereas the comparative group showed no improvement in ability after the end of the course. In the accuracy test taken 2 weeks after the course, the experimental group showed a significant increase in scoring, but the control group showed no improvement after 4 weeks of the course. In the dribble test taken 2 weeks after the course, the experimental group showed a significant increase in dribbling speed while the control group showed no improvement after 4 weeks of the course. In the under-basket-shot test taken 2 weeks after the course, both the experimental and the control groups showed a significant increase in scoring. In the speed-pass test taken 2 weeks after the course, the average passing speeds of the two groups showed significant differences. The results of the accuracy test at the end of the 6-week showed no remarkable differences in score between the two groups, but the experimental group record higher scores at the retest taken 2 weeks after the end of the course. In the dribble test taken 2 weeks after the course, the average dribbling speed of the experimental group proved greater than that of the control group. In the under basket shot test taken 2 weeks and 6 weeks after the course, the average score of the experimental group was higher than that of the control group.
