Abstract
The purpose of this thesis is to clarify the scientific structure of the science of history of education. For this, I divided it into five parts as follows; 1) the science of education and that of history of education 2) the history of education and the science of history of education (S.H.E.) i) the history of education as a description of historical facts ii) S.H.E. as a scientific classification 3) the development of S.H.E,. 4) all domains of S.H.E. 5) the structural comprehension of S.H.E. i) criteria for the classification of domains ii) types of approaching method iii) the structural figure of S.H.E. I prepared two figures and one table. Figure 1 is a structure of science of education and for the explanation of stand point of S.H.E. Table 1 demonstrates the scientific structure of S.H.E., and its nothing but an example table. Till now when we rearrange the scientific structure of S.H.E., what is it at all? I know enough that it is difficult to answer to this problem, but as we use the phrase of scientific map or that of educational map, we should anticipate the structural figure of S.H.E. It is sure that such a trying has many scientific dangers on some times. It would be better not to do it at all than to do the scientific attempt. We, however, feel that we cant suppress an impulse and motion which would like to insight and see through the scientific system at the just point where and when we stand. What is the reason? Its because we always need the proper apprehension of S.H.E. itself which is the object of our scientific research. And so, we lastly would visualize what is the scientific structure of S.H.E. for the significance which makes us think of our own scholarly journey. Figure 2, the structural figure of S.H.E., inserted in this thesis, is an example figure hitherto I commented on. Adding to this structural figure, I explain it some more. First, in 1985, this structural figure was presented already as a subject lecture, the Present Status and Perspective in Research of the History of Oriental Education", at the annual simposium of the Society for the Study of History of Education in the Korean Society for the Study of Education. I thought out this structural figure of S.H.E. But at that time, I had no space to explain that, so this thesis has a purpose to solve such it reserved question. Second, its about the structural figure of S.H.E. which is divided into two parts largely. One is inside of an oval, all domains of S.H.E., and the other is outside, four couple types of approaching method. When eight approaching methods are related to five domains respectively, so many compositions of S.H.E. are possible like a table 1. As the history of geographical or astronomical exploration needs much endeavor and its accumulation of many people, so does the investigation of scientific structure needs that to bring out more details. I think that the scientific structure of S.H.E. also could be said in the same way.
