Abstract
In order to investigate the nature of Tae Kwon (Tae-Kyon), particularly in its origin and terminology, a review of literature had been made. Also historical remains and related materials had been collected arid analyzed as a part of the data for this study. Some of the major findings are sumarized as follows: 1. The current sport, "Tae-Kwon Do" was originate from the terminology called "Taekyon" in the period of the Three Kingdom States in ancient Korea and "Tae Kwon Do" in 1954, respectively. 2. From the drawing shown in Dancing Tomb, the Tae Kyon might be a systematic activities for struggling and fighting and be played about A.D. 3 to 427 or before A.D. 520. 3. As shown in the remains of In Wang and GeumGang Mighty, HwaRang (a group of young army cadet) might play Tae Kyon during Silla dynasty. which was a Kingdom founded in the southeastern part of the land in ancient Korea.
