한국 내 종교갈등 및 종교차별 상황 극복을 위한 제언

Abstract

개신교, 불교, 유교, 천주교 등 다양한 종교가 분포되어 있는 한국의 다원적 종교상황은 세계 종교사에서도 유례를 찾기 어려울 정도로 독특한 특징을 지닌 것으로 평가받고 있다. 한국의 종교상황은 "동서양의 종교가 고루 공존하고, 외래종교와 자생종교가 함께 있으며, 그 어떤 종교도 주도적인 위치에 있지 못한 전형적 종교다원상황"을 나타내고 있기 때문이다. 외래 종교의 유입이나 종교간 교리 및 의례의 차이로 인해 종교간 갈등이 발생해 왔지만 다양한 종교가 평화적 공존을 유지하고 있는 것은 한국 종교상황의 중요한 특징으로 인정되었다. Recently, religious conflicts in Korea are inclined to expand to social conflicts and crisis. Though some inter-religious conflicts in Korea came from the exclusivism and the differences among religions, several major inter-religious conflicts such as the damage of Dangun statues and the dispute about the Gangneung Danohje and the Templestay are caused by the different understanding between the religious aspect and the cultural aspect. Besides those conflicts are related to supports of public officials and organizations so that they lead to the controversy of religious discriminations. To overcome religious conflicts and religious discriminations in Korea, we suggests three important proposals. First, when the public organizations support some events or establish policies related to religion, they should set the objective standards which are able to maintain cultural features except religious ones. Second, the government official should observe religious neutrality, and pay attention to express something related to religion even when they do private behaviors. Third, for the peaceful coexistence in the multi-religious situation in Korea, exclusive obstinacy should be dismissed and people have to persevere in their efforts with respect and consideration for other religions.
