韓國 降神坐에게 守購神靈으로서 내려온 死靈에관한연구 -서울과 전라남도 진도의 비교를 중심으로-

Abstract

한국에 있어서는 사회의 발전, 변모에 따라서 한국 샤마니즘도 여러 면에서 변화하고 있는 것과 관련해서 도시의 샤마니즘을 언급하는 경우가 많다. 최길성은 도시에서는 경제적인 번영을 기원해서 재수굿을 활발하게 실시하는 경우가 많아졌다고 지적하고(1984: 273) 아울러 서울에서는 이른바 미신 업자(迷信業者)가 해마다 늘어나고 있고 그들은 특히 서울 주변 지역에 많이 분포하고 있고 서울 여러 곳에서 대규모의 샤만 의례가 행해지고 있다고 했다(1980: 210-225). 또 켄달(L. Kendall)은 1990년대에 서울에서 실시한 조사에 입각해 굿은 호경기 시기뿐만 아니라 불경기 시기에도 관찰되었는데 굿의 의뢰인은 성공과 부유의 변동이 심한 소 부르주아(petit bourgeois)인 경우가 대부분이고 굿은 중소기업가의 성공과 좌절에 관련된다고 했다(1995: 6-8).

본고에서는 현대 한국의 도시에서 활동하는 샤만의 특징을 검토하기 위해서 대도시 샤만의 예로서 서울 샤만의 사례를, 지방사회(전통사회) 샤만의 사례로서 전라남도 진도 샤만의 예를 소개하면서 양 지역의 샤만에 대한 비교 고찰을 하겠다 .그리고 비교 대상을 명확하게하기 위해서 본고에서는 샤만의 수호 신령에 초점을 맞추어 고찰하겠다.

Most of Korean shamans are women. In most cases, their guardian spirits are ghosts of their parents home and ghosts of their husbands parents home. Comparing Seoul's shaman with Chindo Island's shaman on the ghost, we will find some differences as follows:

1. Guardian spirits of Chindo Island's shaman are ghosts of the grand parents generation or younger than grand parents generation. But in Seoul, not only above ghosts but ghosts of the great-grand parents generation or older than great-grand parents generation also become guardian spirits.

2. Not only lineal ghosts but collateral ghosts also become guardian spirits in Chindo Island. But collateral ghosts seldom become guardian spirits in Seoul.

3. Seouls shamans call their ghosts by the name of god, such as mountain-god(san-sin), seven-star-god(chil-sseong-sin), dragon-god(yongsin), general (jang-gun), master(do-sa), etc. But few shamans call their ghosts by the names of god in Chindo Island.
