dc.description.abstractThis paper reports clinical observation from four
cases of congenital cytomegalovirus infection seen in
one year period at Department of Pediatrics, Seoul
National University Hospital. Two cases were diagnosed
by finding characteristic inclusions in the
affected tissue at operation and autopsy. The third
case was confirmed by clinical features and perivent·
ricular calcification, and the fourth case by clinical
findings and serology.
One patient died of generalized disease, one who
had periventricular calcification and microcephaly infectionssurvives
with a severe psychomotor retardation. and
the remaning two are living without significant stigmata.
It was interesting to note the association of polycystic
disease and cytomegalic inclusion disease in
the same kidney as revealed in one of the patients
(case 2).
