Abstract

Upon physical measurement of 1,631 inhabitants(male824, female 707)of Seoul, Kyung-Gee-Do, Kyung-SangNam- Do and Kyung-Sang-Book-Do ranging from 19 to 25 years old, the following conclusions have been drawn. 1) The mean value of stature reveals 0 166.58± 0.17 em, 9 157.94±0.18 em, that of the inhabitants of Kyung-Sang-Nam-Do showing the highest and that of Kyung-Gee-Do the lowest. The values are slightly greater than those of the inhabitants of Pre-World-War II. the difference being more prominent in the female than in the male. 2) The mean value of head-length reveals <3 180.60 ±0.27 mm, !i1 173.01±0.24 mm, showing no remarkable topographical difference. The values are very close to those of the inhabitants of Pre-World-War II. 3) The mean value of head-breadth reveals <3 153.74 ±0.25 mm, !i1 148.00±0.20 mm, showing no remarkable topographical difference. The values are very close to those of the inhabitants of Pre-World-War II. 4) The mean value of cephalic index reveals 0 85.36 ±0.17, !i1 86.24±0.17, belonging to the brachycephalic type and showing no remarkable topographical difference. The values are very close to: those of the inhabitants of Pre-World-War II.
