dc.description.abstract | 686 strains of 26 species of bacteria from the pus
collected from patients in Seoul National University Hospital from Dec 1st. 1972 to Jan 31. 1973. were isolated in the Section of Microbiology. Clinical Laboratory. The distribution. infectious patterns and susceptibility to the various antibiotics of the isolated bacteria were summerized as follows. 1. The isolated bacterial species and their relative incidence from the pus were. Coagulase(+) staphylococcus 22.1%. Pseudomonas aeruginosa 16.2%. Escherichia coli 13.4%. Coliform bacilli 7.0%. Coagulase(-) staphylococcus 7.3%. Enterobacter aerogenes 5.8%. Neisseria gonorrhoeae 4.2%. Alkaligenes fecalis 4.2%. aHemolytic streptococcus 3.8%. Proteus species 8.1%. .a-Hemolytic streptococcus 2.9%. Diplococcus pneumoniae 1.6%. Enterococcus 1.3%. r-Hemolytic streptococcus 0.7%. Lactobacillus 0.4%. Neisseria meningitidis 0.3% and Corynebacterium equi, Hemophilus influenza. Salmonella group D. Serratia 1% respectively. 2. The incidence of mixed infection in the clinical specimens was 11.9% and that of each clinical department was ENT 35.3%. Gynecology and Obstetrics 25%. Pediatrics 14.8. Surgery 14.6%. Internal medicine 7.2%. Urology 5.4% respectively. 3. The cases where 2 species of bacteria were isolated from the clinical specimens suspected mixed infection were 90.4% and. more than 2 species. 9.6%. 4. The susceptibility of Coagulase (+) staphylococcus to the antibiotics showed that the strains from the single infected lesions was higher than that from mixed ones. | - |
