Among the forms in Korean which can be associated with such forms in English as "not," "no," "un-," "im-," "dis-" and "-less," and can be identfied in the surface structure as typical "negatives,"~two groups can be distinguished according to their syntactic positions. The negatives of the first group occur before a predicate stem, and their scope of negation can be analyzed to effect sentence negation.ko_KR
