Abstract

The basic premise underlying this paper is that in linguistics, as in other sciences, the method should be developed out of the subject matter, and not vice versa. It is considered to be necessary to re-evaluate the subject matter of linguistics, which in recent years has given priority to methodological decision and excluded much that is involved in language behavior from its model of the language system.
