dc.description.abstract | This paper aims to introduce the linking algorithms of case marker KA and LUL between syntax and semantics in the light of the linking theory that was originally proposed in Chapter 11 of Jackendoff (1990) in which he explained it a theory of the relationship between syntactic and semantic arguments. In this paper, I claim as follows. First, what is important of linking Korean syntactic cases (nominative, accusative) is not the names of thematic roles, but the number of slot (4 slots) of them. And the mapping between syntax and semantics is possible based on an orderly linking of the thematic hierarchy. Second, there are three different kinds of case functions in Korean: syntactic, semantic, and pragmatic cases. Third, there is a mapping relation between syntactic structure and lexical conceptual structure (LCS) based on which the analysis from the former to the latter, and the generation the other way around is possible. Fourth, the analysis and the generation above mentioned can be applied to the algorithm such as machine translation that links syntactic information into semantic information. | ko_KR |
