Abstract
This paper examines the implications of theoretical linguistics for language pedagogy, with its empirical basis on the foreign language development stages in pienemann and Johnston (1987). The paper focuses in particular on the Minimalist Program with a view to exploring the nature of grammatical content organizing principles. It observes that the economy measure of the Program serves to delve into close relations between the 'easiness' and the 'simplicity' of grammar structures. This observation endorses the understanding that the research fruits of theoretical linguistics provide proper nourishment for the operational system of EFL teaching content organization.
