Abstract

What are the reasons that cause us to feel that Korean traditional music is different

from that of Japanese or Chinese music? Different-ness" means that there exists

some unique qualities only that particular music has. In other words, uniqueness is the

multiple personalities found in music that is made up of a variety of musical components.

The difference one feels in Korean music can be explained through these personalities,

and 1 have chosen two words that exemplify not only the uniqueness of Korean

music but words that are easily related to and found in the life style of Koreans

: Encompassment and Leisure.
