dc.description.abstract | The system of tone ratio which is used in Korean traditional music is explained
by Eum yang ron in Akhakkuebum'. Eumyangron is, by its nature, hard to be explained by modem science, therefore, is not fully understood. In the past, Some efforts were done to explain Sambunsonikbub in terms of western music theory. But these efforts had some incompleteness in their interpretation ofEumyangron'. As a result, the tone ratio drawn from these efforts cannot support the performance of Korean traditional music appropriately. This article introduces new study to interprete the Eumyangron using the Relative concept'. This study uses general aspect to explain upward-progression and relative aspect for downward-progression. By doing this, it becomes possible to prove that the tone ratio used in Akhakkuebum can be fully explained by western music theory without any incompleteness. | - |
