근대 계몽기 신문에 나타난 어문교육의 양상

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to examin the appearance of Korean Language Education in newspaper at the period of enlitement, In order to approach to the purpose of this study, I investigated three papers, The Independence Newspaper, Jae-guk sinmoon(newspaper) and The Korea Daily News.

Those newspapers are written korean language. they took the lead not only a campaign enlitenment but also korean language education at the time of flowering. So they are necessary to study of Korean language education.

First, I studied about the educational idea described in than. The exciting conditions in that time was that national rights was declined by Japanese economical encroachment and the nation was come to a crisis and the traditional society was villated by the flowing Occidental civilzation. In this vortex, some civilized pioneers thought that national education through enlightenment was a pressing need for the recovery of national rights or for a wealthy country and a powerful army. The former education, therefore, became the focus of criticism and modern educational idea was confirmed as popular educational idea in which every citizen was to be educated regardless of their status. They therefore, carne to great concern in newspaper as a means of transmit this modern educational idea because they considered newspaper as the most effective method for national unification by enlightenment of modern educational idea.

Especially I studied Korean language education "The Independence Newspaper", "Jae-guk sinmoon" (newspaper) and "The Korea Daily News", having a wide class of readers with low class people under middle, performed its mission of the development of "Hangeul" and a crusade against illiteracy by exclusive use of "Hangeul" in the aspect of enlightenment of the people. Above all, the editorial articles were in the lead in enlightenment and Korean language educations of the people. And 'Japbo', 'Gi-Su', 'Advertisement', 'Talk of of current events' showed the facts of Korean language education. This paper is focussed newspapers written korean language education at the period of enlightment. And came to a conclusion like theme following. The three newspapers played an important part in popurarity education and Korean language education.
