국어과 교육과정에 대한 교사 인식 연구 -초등 입문기 학생 수준 대비 국어과 교육과정 수준을 중심으로-

Abstract

본 연구는 초등학교 입문기 학생 수준 대비 국어과 교육과정 수준에 대한 교사들의 인식을 조사하였다. 본 조사는 2012년 7월 9일부터 7월 13일까지 5일 동안 인터넷웹을 통해 이루어졌으며 전국의 유치원 5세 누리과정 담당교사 855명과 초등학교 1학년 담임교사 2,470명이 참여하였다.

설문 결과에 입각하여 본 연구는 국어과 교육과정 정책 수립을 위한 다음과 같은 시사점을 도출하였다.

(1) 초등학교 입학 전 대다수의 유치원에서 문자 언어 지도가 이루어지나 비정기적으로 이루어지므로, 기초 읽기 능력과 기초 쓰기 능력 함양을 우선적으로 고려할 필요가 있다.

(2) 초등학교 교사들은 현재의 국어과 교육과정 전반이 초등 입문기 학생 수준 대비 어렵다고 인식하고 있으며, 특히 문법 지식 및 적용, 쓰기 및 말하기 과정에서의 내용 생성, 의견과 까닭 생각하기 등을 가장 어려운 학습 내용으로 인식하였다.

(3) 유치원과 초등학교 교사 모두 국어과 교육과정 성취기준 중 쓰기 영역의 성취기준이 다른 영역에 비해 학생 수준 대비 가장 어렵다고 인식하고 있으므로 현재의 쓰기 영역 성취기준 수준을 좀 더 하향 조정할 필요가 있다.

(4) 초등 입문기 학생 수준 대비 국어과 교육과정의 수준 적합성을 높이기 위해서는 유치원 교육과정과의 연계성을 제고해야 하며, 이를 위해서는 두 교육과정 개발 주체를 일원화할 필요가 있다.

From July 9–13, 2012, we conducted an online survey about teachers attitudes toward the difficulty of the curriculum for Korean language arts (KLA).

The results of this survey lead us to make four policy recommendations related to KLA: (1) We need to emphasize basic and essential reading/writing skills. (2) We need to make current Korean language arts curriculum (KLAC) easier especially with regard to grammar and its application, developing ideas for speaking and writing, positioning and reasoning. (3) The writing section in KLAC is currently too difficult. We should adjust the level of 1st-grade curriculum in KLA, especially the writing section, in response to students ability. (4) The Nuri (K-level) and 1st-grade level curriculum should be designed by people coordinating with each other in order to strengthen the connection between Nuri and 1st-grade curricula.
