북한의 학교 규율과 사회주의적 노동자 만들기

Abstract

이 글에서는 북한의 학교에서 학생들을 사회주의적 노동자로 주조해내는 과정을 노동 규율의 형성을 중심으로 밝히고자 하였다. 특히 산업노동력이 대거 창출되고 사회주의적 노동자 양성이 학교 교육의 주요 목적으로 부각되었던 초기 산업화 과정을 중심으로 설명하였다. 북한의 학교 교육에서 산업노동 수행에 필요한 노동 규범과 규율을 갖춘 노동력을 양성하는 것은 교육의 목적과 기능면에서 핵심적인 부분을 차지한다. 이 글에서는 노동 규율 형성의 기제를 교과수업과 생산노동, 수업 규율, 교내 규칙으로 나누어 살펴보았다. 북한의 학교교육에서는 노동 규율의 형성이 공식적인 교육과정의 목표로 분명하게 명시되고 있으며, 정치사상 교과와 생산실습 교과를 통하여 자발적으로 노동에 헌신하는 태도와 집단주의적 태도를 형성하고자 하였다. 수업이 조직되는 형식에서는 교사의 주도성과 그에 대한 복종이 강조되고 학생들이 수업시간에 지켜야 할 규율이 매우 세부적으로 규정되었다. 학교 규칙에서는 시간 규율의 준수 및 과업의 성실한 이행과 상급자에 대한 복종이 강조되는데, 이는 산업현장에 노동자들에게 요구되는 노동규율과 조응하는 것이었다. 이러한 규율의 특성은 소련의 사회주의 교육의 영향인 동시에 일제 시기 학교 규율과 연속성을 지니는 것이며, 이 연속성은 노동자의 동작과 신체에 대한 계획화와 통제라는 근대적 노동의 기획이라는 사회적 조건으로 인하여 가능한 것이었다.

The aim of this study is to examine the process and the mechanism of training labor discipline through schooling in North Korea especially during the industrialization period. In North Korea, it has been one of the most important goals of education to foster students with the socialist labor discipline which needed to perform duties in factory after graduate, since the industrialization period. To internalize the students with socialist labor disciplines, mechanisms such as classroom instructions and the productive labor as the formal curriculum, classroom disciplines, and school rules were used. Labor disciplines such as self-sacrifice and spontaneity to one's task, and collectivism were elucidated as the instruction objects and emphasized in the contents of education. Not only the contents of instructions but also the forms and disciplines of classroom instructions are important in the formation of labor disciplines. The lessons were led by teachers entirely and teacher's authority were emphasized. The student's disciplinary rules were enacted and regulated each students daily behavior to adjust labor disciplines, ie punctuality, diligence, and obedience to seniors. It were correspondent with labor disciplines in factories. These rules were compulsively enforced even though it was officially regarded and recommended as a students self-governing rule.
