학습윤리에 대한 대학생의 인식: 중요도-실행도 차이 분석을 중심으로

Abstract

지식기반사회의 성숙과 함께 학문공동체에서는 연구윤리에 대한 담론이 활발하다. 연구윤리는 책임 있는 연 구수행을 위해 준수해야 할 윤리원칙 또는 행동양식이다. 이 연구는 학습하는 과정에서 개인적인 윤리 확립을 위한 실천방안을 마련하기 위하여 학습윤리에 대한 대학생의 인식을 조사·분석하는 것이 목적이다. 연구대상은 서울특별시 K대학교 공과대학 재학생 183(남: 142, 여: 41)명이며, 설문지는 학습윤리에 관한 내용으로 구성되 었다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 대학생들은 보고서 작성 항목에서 대리작성, 아이디어 도용, 과제물 구매 등에서는 준수의 중요성을 높게 인식하고 있지만, 중복제출과 짜깁기에서는 중요성 인식의 정도가 낮았다. 학습 윤리에 대한 실행도(준수정도)에서는 대리작성, 중복제출, 과제물 구매 등에서 높게(즉, 위반하지 않는 것으로) 나타났으며, 짜깁기와 표절에서는 실행도가 낮았다. 중요도와 실행도 점수 차이는 중복제출, 짜깁기, 과제물 구 매, 표절, 대리작성에서 통계적으로 유의미하였다. 학습윤리 위반에 대한 이유는 더 좋은 학점에 대한 욕심, 시 간의 부족, 자료에 대한 쉬운 접근성이었다. 둘째, 기타 학업수행(출석, 협동과제, 시험 등) 측면에서 학습윤리 중요도는 대리시험, 시험부정행위, 무임승차에서는 높았지만 대리출석과 무단조퇴는 상대적으로 낮게 나타났으 며, 이들 항목에 대한 실행도에서도 비슷한 경향이 나타났다. 중요도-실행도 점수 차이는 대리출석, 무단조퇴, 대리시험에서 통계적으로 유의미하였다. 셋째, 학습윤리의 중요도와 실행도 차이 분석 결과, 중요도는 높으나 실행도가 낮은 약점 항목으로 집중관리가 필요한 부분은 표절, 위조, 변조로 나타났다. 중요도와 실행도가 모두 높은 강점 특성으로는 과제물 구매, 대리작성, 아이디어 도용과 대리시험, 무임승차, 시험부정 행위가 포함되었다. 중요도와 실행도의 인식 수준이 모두 낮은 항목은 짜깁기를 포함하여 대리출석, 무단조퇴 항목이다. 중요도는 낮지만 실행도는 비교적 높은 투자 및 집중도 조절이 요구되는 불필요한 강점 항목에는 중복제출 이 포함되었다.

Nowadays academic honesty/academic integrity' becomes an important issue in the research community. The issue of academic ethics is particularly relevant to college students. The purpose of the present study was to analyze college students' conceptions of academic ethics'. For this purpose, one hundred eighty-three (142 males and 41 female) college students were recruited from K University in Seoul. The survey instrument used for the study consisted of thirteen questions regarding academic ethics. The results of the study were summarized as follows: First, the college students reported high importance in compliance with the items of agency creating, idea stealing, and homework buying, but they reported lower importance on the items of weaves in writing and duplicate submission. Second, students also reported high importance in compliance with the items of surrogate test, test cheating, and free riding in homeworks, but they reported lower importance on the items of valet attendance and unauthorized leaving early. For the items of performance, compliance scores showed a similar trend. Lastly, the results of the importance-performance analysis showed that the items of academic ethics in the 'concentrate' area were 'plagiarism', 'fake', and 'modulation', respectively. In conclusion, plagiarism as a violation of academic ethics may occur when students don't know how to appropriately quote from resources. In order to establish 'academic ethics' code for college students in university, we should design, develop, and implement appropriate courses such as 'research ethics,' 'academic writing,' etc.
