The purpose of this study is to investigate the depositional processes of the estuary sediments of the An Seong river that flows in Ah San bay. From 48 stations 50 samples were collected in order to analyze the grain size distributions. The textural parameters were calculated with the method of Friedman (1961). The factor analysis has been applied to sediment samples to determine the minimum number of independent dimensions needed to account for most of information in similarity coefficients. According to the similarity between samples, all samples were classified into two groups. 1) Sediments of Hupyung ri-Yanghi ri are ranged 01"'-'2 ~ (coarse and medium sand) and positively skewed and mostly transported by saltation. 2) Sediments of Sinho ri-Sukbong ri are ranged 4~5 (coarse silt) and negatively skewed and mostly transported by suspension. In addition sediments of Angung ri-Singa ri are mixed 1) 2) samples. According to the grain size distributions and subpopulation analysis (mode of transportation) sediments of Hupyung ri-Yanghi ri are similar to river bar sands and sediments of Sinho riSukbong ri are similiar to tidal deposits. It was found that sediments in the study

area were deposited by fluvial (Hupyung riYanghi ri) and tidal (Sinho ri-Sukbong ri) processes.
