農村地域 敎師들의 活動空間 - 忠北 鎭川郡의 事例硏究

Abstract

The rural emigration, which results from industrialization and urbanization, has given birth to the quantitative and qualitative decline in public services and facilities, and the decline compels more emigration and leads the rural area to remain less developed. The main purpose of this study is to elucidate the spatial behavior of teachers in rural area who have troubles with lacks of public services and facilities. For this purpose the activity space is analyzed, which includes housing, commuting, the educational activity for their children and the movement of working place. The study area is Jincheon-Gun, Chungcheongbuk-Do, where Cheongjoo is the nearest center-city. And this study uses materials collected by questionaire suvey for all teachers in the study area and interview, from September to October 1988. The questionaire- response rate is 67.6%. The spatial perception of rural area, which influences on the spatial behaviors, is affirmative to natural environment and human relationship, but negative to education and other services. A key feature in the residential behaviors of the teachers is the general separation between home and working place. The teachers who live outside their working place amount to 70% and especially those who live in Cheongjoo form 47.6%. In the educational activity, their children go to the rural school when they are in elementary school but, as they grow, they are inclined to go to the middle and high school in urban area (especially in Cheongjoo).
