일본 자민당과 민주당 지지층 비교: 최근 추이와 사회경제적,정치적 특성 비교를 중심으로

Abstract

본 논문은 지지통신사(時事通信社)가 1960년 6월부터 매달 실시해오고 있는 시사세론조사 2004년 8월부터 2009년 10월까지 결과를 바탕으로 일본의 두 주요 정당인 자민당과 민주당의 최근 5년간 지지율 추이를 살펴본 후, 오사카상업대학 비교지역연구소가 동경대학 사회과학연구소와 공동으로 2006년 10월부터 12월까지 세달 간에 걸쳐 일본 거주 성인남녀 8,000명을 대상으로 실시한 일본판 총합사회조사(JGSS)" 자료분석을 통해 두 정당을 지지하는 지지자들이 어떠한 사회경제적, 정치적 특성을 가지고 있는지 살펴보고자 한다.

This paper compares socioeconomic, ideological, and political characteristics of Liberal Democratic Party(LDP) supporters with those of Democratic Party of Japan supporters. Specifically, by analyzing the 2006 Japanese General Social Survey (JGSS) conducted by the Institute of Comparative Regional Studies, Osaka University of Commerce, and the Institute of Social Science, the University of Tokyo, from October to December 2006 with 4,254 Japanese aged between 20 and 89, this paper reveals that the proportions of females, older-generations, small-town residents, people from higher strata, people with higher annual income, people who are ideologically conservative, and people with low eduction are higher for LDP supporters than for DPJ supporters. This paper also shows that, when compared with LDP supporters, DPJ supporters more emphasize the role of government in the areas of social welfare, caring for older people, education, child-care, poverty, environmental protection, employment, and so on. In doing so, this paper reveals the socioeconomic and political bases of the current Japanese party system.
