네트워크 개인주의와 시민저항: 2008년 촛불시위를 사례로

Abstract

최근이 사회운동 연구에 있어서 정체성 지향 패러다임과 자원동원 패러다임은 상보적으로 교호하고 있다. 그것은 사회운동이란 주체와 조건이 효과적으로 결합된 산물이기 때문에. 한 측면만을 배타적으로 강조할 경우 분석의 적실성을 잃어버리기 때문이다. 따라서 집합적 정체성과 운동자원이 복합적으로 조형하는 심리적,물리적 틀이 사회운동의 실행 수준을 규정한다고 이해할 수 있다. 이 연구에서는 집단 정체성 형성 기제이자 운동자원으로서의 네트워크의 역할을 주심으로 정보화 시대 사회 운동의 특징을 탐색하였다. 2008년 촛불시위는 이러한 네트워크의 역할이 두드러진 사회운동의 전형으로 운위되는바 그 특징들은 향후 사회운동의 변화상을 전망케 한다. 즉 이러한 변화는 다분히 네트워크 등 정보통신 기술의 발전과 궤를 같이 한다. 그러나 촛불시위에서 확인되 듯이 더욱 본직적인 것은 기술적 인프라를 매개한 시민 역량의 강화이다. 따라서 기술과 시민성의 공진화가 미래 사회운동의 레퍼토리를 재창조하리라는 전망은 그리 무리해보이지 않는다.

Recently social movement researches have integrated two contrasting perspectives, collective-oriented paradigm and resource mobilization paradigm. Because social movement is made of its strategy and condition, it is required to analyze synthetically two aspects. This research tries to explore characteristics of social movement in the information era,focusing on network's roles. Network is understood as a important tool forming collective identity and mobilizing resource in modern social movement repertoire in the aspects of identity, mechanism and strategy. Furthermore, it is expected that coevolution of citizenship and information communication technologies will more rapidly change social movement repertoire.
