중등학교 고전문학교육의 위계성 검토 (1): 2009 개정 교육과정과 교과서를 중심으로

Abstract

본 연구에서는 2009 개정 교육과정과 교과서를 중심으로 중등학교 고전문학 교육의 위계성을 점검하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 2009 개정 교육과정 상의 고전 문학교육의 위상을 점검하였고, 2009 개정 교육과정을 반영한 <중학교 국어>, <국어Ⅰ>, <국어Ⅱ>, <문학>, <고전> 교과서에서 고전문학 작품의 선정과 위계적 배열, 고전문학 작품의 수록 빈도 등을 점검하였다. 점검의 결과는 다음과 같다.

2009 개정 교육과정의 중학교 단계에서는 고전문학교육이 변별적 지위를 차지하지 못했다. 이에 따라 고전문학 작품의 교과서 수록 빈도가 매우 낮았으며, 특정 장르나 특정 작품 위주의 수록 경향이 있었다. 고등학교 단계인 <국어Ⅰ>, <국어Ⅱ>에서 역시 고전문학 작품의 교과서 수록 빈도가 매우 낮았고, 고전산문의 경우 중학교 교과서에 실린 작품이 다시 수록되는 등 작품 수록의 반복 현상이 심했다. 또한, 성취기준을 중심으로 한 교과서 구성 방식으로 인해 갈래냐 문학적 전통이냐에 따라 작품 수록 경향에 차이가 있었다. <문학>에서는 교과서 수록 고전문학 장르가 다양하고 수록 작품의 성격 역시 다양하였으나, 과목수와 성취기준 수의 축소로 인해 고전문학 교육의 내용이 문학사교육으로 수렴 되었다. 학생들의 고전문학 작품 읽기 경험이 충분하지 않은 상황에서 문학사교육 중심의 고전문학교육이 이루어지는 것이 타당하고 적정한지에 관한 검토가 반드시 필요하다.

This study examines the educational hierarchy of korean classical literature in the secondary school with focused on 2009 korean language curriculum and textbooks. For this purpose, this study analyzes the educational status of classical literature in 2009 korean language curriculum, and investigates the selection, hierarchical arrangements and frequency of korean classical literature in textbooks.

In the middle school curriculum, classical literature education is not distinctive and for this reason, classical literatures have low frequency in textbooks and only particular genres and works are chosen as educational materials. In the high school curriculum, classical literatures have low frequency and high repetitive inclusion rate in <Korean Language Ⅰ>,

<Korean Language Ⅱ> textbooks. The inclusion tendency is diverse according to standards of accomplishment. In <Literature> textbooks, educational contents are usually focused on history of literature, so the adequacy of these contents must be verified in accordance with literary experiences of students
