dc.description.abstract | The paper documents and then discusses the motivation for the loanword adaptation of the four Mandarin tones and their 16 disyllabic combinations with respect to the Yanbian High-Low (penultimate) vs. Low-High (final) pitch-accent distinction. It is concluded that the trans-syllabic F0 contour in the Mandarin loanword source plays a crucial role. | ko_KR |
