고전소설 변용을 통한 문화적 문식성 교육 연구 : 학습자의 <춘향전> 변용 양상을 중심으로

Abstract

이 연구는 학습자의 고전 텍스트 변용 경험을 통한 문화적 문식성 교육의 가능성을 탐색해보고자 하였다. 고전소설을 전통적 가치를 지닌 문화 텍스트라는 수직적 범주와 끊임없는 재생산을 통해 현재적 소통을 이끄는 문화적 현상이라는 수평적 범주의 성격을 지닌다고 보고 학습자의 문화 전승 방식으로서의 변용(變容, adaptation)을 통해 양자를 매개하고자 하였다. 원 텍스트인 <열녀춘향수절가>와 대중매체의 영향 관계로 인해 학습자의 변용은 대중서사와의 비교를 통해 과거의 맥락을 현재적 상황으로 치환하거나 매체의 양식의 특성에 입각하여 고전을 해석하거나 고전을 기반으로 현재 문화를 성찰하거나 자신의 텍스트 수용 경험을 통해 창작물을 생산하려는 지향을 보였다. 학습자는 자신의 취향과 관심을 투영하여 다양한 <춘향전>과 의미 관계를 형성함으로써 문화적 산물로서 <춘향전>의 생산에 참여할 수 있다. 이러한 문화 전승에 참여할 수 있는 학습자의 역량이야말로 문화적 문식성이 목표하는 가장 높은 수준의 능력이라 할 수 있을 것이다.

This study aims to find the possibility of cultural literacy education through adaptation of classical novel. According to the diachronic aspect of being of culture, classical literature novel is cultural text with traditional values. And according to the synchronic aspect of being of culture, classical literature novel is cultural phenomena that constantly recreated. The concept of adaptation in this thesis is enjoying and inheriting literature by varying genres and media. At the same time, the preceding text and adaptation text affect the students. In the process, students adapt their text in light of cultural context. As a result of adaptation of student is as follow : 1) current perception through comparison 2) diversification according to the characteristics of the media 3) reflection of contemporary culture through relation 4) recreation through experience. The meaning of the cultural-literacy education through adaptation of classical novel is the possibility of educating the students as the subject of the culture.
