다문화가정 자녀의 언어관리 방안에 관한 국제 사례 연구

Abstract

이 연구에서는 우리나라보다 다문화 사회의 역사가 긴 국가 중에서 국가의 체제와 이민의 형태상 대표성이 있는 국가로 프랑스와 미국을 선정하였다. 선정한 국가에서, 이미 국내에 연구 성과와 자료가 어느 정도 축적되어 있는 법이나 제도적인 측면보다 실제 교육 현장에서 이른바 다문화가정자녀의 언어문제를 어떻게 다루고 있는지, 다문화가정자녀들이 학교에서 언어문제를 어떻게 경험하고 있는지, 재학생과 교사 및 성인의 경험을 조사하였다. 이러한 현상을 이해하기 위하여 이러한 현상의 바탕을 제공하고 있는 교사교육 및 교사자격제도를 개관하고, 각국의 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위한 노력으로서의 프로그램 사례를 제시하였다. 위에서 조사한 자료와 기존의 문헌 자료를 바탕으로 우리교육에서 다문화가정 자녀의 언어 문제를 어떻게 다룰 것인지에 관한 시사점을 추출하여, 우리나라 국어(언어) 교육과 다문화교육의 지향을 재점검하고 시행착오를 줄일 수 있는 교육 방안을 제안하고자 하였다.

The present study aims to provide understandings to develop language policies for so-called multi-cultural students by doing international comparative studies with very concrete cases of USA and France. We have chosen USA for immigrant countries and France, nation-states. Actually, we already have enough materials and researches about relevant laws and regulations, which made me to be curious about the reality: what so-called multi-cultural students and their teachers are experiencing in the class and on the street. Visits to schools, interviews with those who are directly and indirectly related to the matter and teacher training structure of those countries were very helpful to deepen the understanding. To end with, we tried to show implications of those findings to and suggestions for Korean education.
