리얼리즘의 유토피아 : 가와미츠 신이치의 <류큐공화사회 헌법C사(시)안> 읽기

Abstract

오키나와 시인 가와미츠 신이치(川滿信一)의 <류큐공화사회헌법C사(시)안(琉球共和社會憲法C私(試)案)>(1981)은 유토피아적 상상이 가득한 동시에 현실 의식과 역사적 내용을 담고 있다. 가와미츠 <헌법>은 1879년 류큐 처분, 1952년 미국 군정부의 신탁통치, 그리고 1972년 오키나와 시정권의 일본 반환이라는 일련의 역사적 사건 속에서 자라난 오키나와 사회의 민족 자결 의식을 배경으로 하고 있다. 그런데 그것은 통용되는 분리주의적 민족독립 이데올로기와 다른 의미의 자치를 모색하며 우리에게 대안적인 사상 자원을 제공한다. 그것은 국가를 부정하고 어떠한 형식의 폭력에도 반대하는데, 각종 명분하의 폭력적 지배와 자발적 예속의 대립물로서 류큐공화사회를 제시한다. 오키나와 사상가 오카모토 케이토쿠(岡本惠德)의 <수평축(水平軸)의 사상—오키나와의 공동체의식에 대하여>(1971)는 가와미츠 <헌법>과 가장 잘 호응하는 텍스트이다. 오카모토는 기존의 국가론과 반국가론을 모두 전복하고, 또한 민중에 대한 지식 엘리트의 담론을 거절하며, 공동체 생리라는 개념을 통해 민중의 생활 논리 그 자체에 다가간다. 오카모토와 연결해서 읽을 때 가와미츠 <헌법>은 바로 오카모토가 고심했던, 오키나와란 무엇인가라는 질문에 답을 제공한다. 결론적으로 가와미츠와 오카모토는 모두 오키나와를 피해자의 위치에 안주시키지 않고, 자립에 관한 대안적인 사고방식으로 오키나와의 사상을 제공하였다.

An Okinawan poet, Kawamichi Shinichis, The Unofficial Constitution of the Republic of the Ryukyuan Society(1981) is full of Utopian imagination, and also includes awareness of reality, and historical contents. Kawamichi's Constitution is based on the awareness of national self-determination in Okinawan society grown up through a series of historical events such as the annexation of Ruykyus in 1879, the trusteeship of United States Civil Administraion of the Ryukyu Islands in 1953, and the reversion of trustee power with full legislative, administrative, and judicial authority to Japan in 1972. Moreover, the Constitution provides alternative sources of thought, and seeks for self-reliance, different from the prevalent segregationism over national liberty. It is also against any form of violence, and denies the state. Finally, it proposes The Republic of the Ryukyuan Society as a counterpart to violent domination and voluntary subordination under any cause.
