dc.description.abstract | A new minimal medium for heat-stable soxin CST)
production has been developed. It supports the pro duction of ST of enterotoxigenic E. coli equivalent or better than a complex Casamino-acid Yeast Extract medium. The minimal medium consists of basal salts , NaCl, KH,PO., Na,HPO., κ19SO. and glucosamine. Other seven different carbon sources were examined for their ability to support the synthesis of ST No ST activity was observed when glucose or lactose was used as carbon source, but when fructose , or glycerol was used as carbon SQurce, significant amount of ST was produced. Sodium succinate and sodium lactate support high production of ST though lower than glucosamine The data suggest that ST synthesis is rep ressed by glucose | - |
