dc.description.abstract | Lymphoid papillary hyperplasia of the palatine
tonsils is a rare abnormality of the palatine tonsils morphologically characterized hy enlargement of the tonsils with papillary projections, simulating papillomalike external surface. Since first report by Roberts as papilloma of the tonsils, only 40 or more cases have been reported mainly by Japanese authors The etiology of this peculiar lesion is still uncertain; however, repeated inflammatory stimuli are considered to be the main cause. Recently we have encountered 2 cases of lymphoid papillary hyperplasia of the palatine tonsils, one from a 51 years old woman and the other from a 66 years old man. They have been suffered from throat discomfort and histopathological examination revealed lymphoid papillary hyperplasia accompanied by fibrosis | - |
