정조(正祖)의 장서인(藏書印) - 규장각 소장 조선본(朝鮮本)을 중심으로

Abstract

정조는 조선시대 역대 임금 중에서 인장을 가장 애호했고, 다양한 인장을 사용한 임금이다. 본 논문에서는 장서인을 통해 정조의 인장에 대한 애호의 정도를 확인하고, 그의 독서 편력과 장서를 재구해 보았다. 정조가 조선본에 찍은 장서인은 71종이 확인되었다. 이를 인문의 내용에 따라 분류하면 별호인(別號印) 20종, 신분인(身分印) 25종, 재관인(齋官印) 6종, 수장인(收藏印) 7종, 감상인(鑑賞印) 1종, 한문인(閑文印) 12종이다. 또 정조 장서인의 특징을 인문(印文), 장서인의 위치, 장서인의 사용 방법의 측면에서 살펴보았다. 정조는 민간의 사대부들과 다른 방식으로 인장을 사용하기를 원했고, 이러한 점은 그의 장서인의 특징에서도 확인할 수 있다. 즉 정조는 일반 사대부 장서인의 핵심인 성명인(姓名印)과 표자인(表字印)을 사용하지 않았다. 대신 그는 헌호(軒號)를 새긴 인장과 자신이 세손, 임금임을 드러내는 인장을 주로 사용하였다. 또 조선시대 문인들의 장서인은 대부분 우측 하단의 광곽에 붙여 위로 찍어 올라간다. 그런데 정조의 장서인은 1~2행을 비워둔 채 2~3행에서 시작되는 경우가 많다. 하지만 등극 후에는 우측 하단의 광곽에 붙여 사용하는 경우가 많다. 정조 장서인에 대한 조사는 정조 장서인의 표준을 확정할 수 있게 한다는 저메서 우선 그 의미를 찾을 수 있다. 또한 정조 장서의 규모와 장서의 구성 현황을 살필 수 있다. 아울러 기존에 잘못 판독한 장서인을 바로잡을 수 있다. 그러한 점에서 본 연구의 조사 대상에 정조 장서의 전체가 포함되진 않았지만 향후 정조 장서인 연구에 초석이 되었다고 할 수 있다.

Jeongjo had most amount of collection seal and love those seals among Joseon Kings. In this thesis reconstructed the list of Jeongjos book collection and clarified his reading history through the collection seal. Jeongjo had 71 collection seals which imprinted on the books printed in Joseon. The seals were classified by the seals content ; 20 Byolho(literary name) seals, 25 Sinbun(identification) seals, 6 Jaeguan seals, 7 Sujang(storage) seals, 1 Gamsang(appreciation) seal, 12 Hanmun seals. Also the message, imprinted location and usage of collection seal was examined in this thesis. The king wanted to look different in the usage of collection seal from other literati. In other word, Jeongjo did not use the SEongmyeong(name) seal and Pyoja(name recieven upon reaching adulthood) seal. Instead, He used Heonho seal and the seals which represented he was the eldest son of Crown Prince and he was the king. Usually the collection seal of literati was started from 2nd or 3rd line with 1st line being empty. After he ascent to the throne, the collection seal was imprinted right beside of the right and downside of the books border. The standard of Jeongjos collection seals was confirmed through the research. Also, the scale and the present condition of Jeongjos book collection. In addition, the reading errors of seal message sere corrected. Even though the whole of the kings books were not examined but the research would be the researching cornerstone of Jeongjos collection seal.
