Abstract

본 논문은 본인의 석사 과정 졸업연주 곡인 J. S. Bach Partita No. 1 in B-flat major, BWV 825와 L. v. Beethoven Piano Sonata in E-flat major, Op. 81a, F. Chopin Ballade No. 2 in F major, No. 3 in A-flat major, Op. 47, F. Liszt Mephisto Waltz No. 1그리고 M. Ravel Jeux d'Eau에 대하여, 각 작품의 배경과 구성 그리고 특징을 중심으로 연구하였다. 바흐의 파르티타 1번은 한 개의 전주곡과 다섯 춤곡으로 구성되어있다. 서로 다른 각 춤곡이지만 비슷한 특징이 얽혀있어서 작품에 통일감을 더해준다. 베토벤의 피아노 소나타 Op.81a는 대표적인 중기소나타의 하나로 베토벤이 직접 각 악장의 표제를 붙인 작품이다. 베토벤은 악장 사이에 주요 동기들을 변화, 발전시키는 방식으로 사용하여 통일성을 주면서 동시에 각 악장을 전혀 다른 느낌으로 표현하였다. 쇼팽은 네 개의 발라드를 통해 시적 발라드에 해당하는 음악적 장르를 만들려고 하였다. 쇼팽의 발라드 2번은 음악적 대비가 뚜렷한 작품이고, 발라드 3번은 발라드 중 분위기가 비교적 밝고, 주제의 변화, 발전이 잦은 작품이다. 각 곡마다 고유의 동기를 다양하게 발전시켜서, 화려하면서도 유기성 있는 작품들을 작곡하였다. 리스트의 메피스토 왈츠 1번은 레나우의 가곡시 파우스트를 접한 뒤에 쓰인 곡으로, 음악을 통해 등장인물들의 행동과 심리가 잘 묘사되어 있다. 주제적 대비와 높은 기교를 통하여 완성도 있는 작품을 작곡하였다. 라벨의 물의 유희는 고전적인 형식미를 보여주는 인상주의 작품으로, 다양한 기교와 음향, 음색을 통하여 물을 상징적으로 표현하였다. 이 작품에서 나타난 특징들은, 후에 드뷔시를 비롯한 많은 작곡가들에게 영향을 주었다.

This paper presents a study of my graduate recital program featuring J. S. Bachs Partita No. 1 in B-flat major, BWV 825, L. v. Beethoven Piano Sonata in E-flat major, F. Chopins Ballade No. 3 in A-flat major, Op. 47, F. Liszts Mephisto Waltz No. 1 and M. Ravels Jeux d'Eau.. The purpose of this study is to interpret and perform those works better by observing their designs and elements like rhythm, harmony, melody. J. S. Bachs Partita No. 1 belongs to dance suites. This paper analyzes structure, rhythm, melody, harmony, texture and compares partita no.1 with other Partitas which looks similar in the overall design. Beethovens Op.81a Les Adiuex is the latest sonatas of the middle period. Beethoven used similar motif within the movements to reinforce and to emphasize the notions of unification and continuity. This paper will also study the manifestation of Beethovens middle period compositional characteristics in this sonata and the relevance of the programmatic title in each movement. Chopins Ballade No.2 shows clear depiction of the most musically contrasting sections among the four Ballades, and Ballade No.3 is the brightest in the general mood. First, this study will examine the relationship between Chopins music and literature and the relationship between thematic variation and wide range of harmonic spectrum evident in his two Ballades. Liszts Mephisto Waltz is one of the most famous program music. The study of its literary background will show us how literary contents are reflected in this work. Besides literary allusion, Liszts virtuoso technique and musicality will be observed. Finally, Ravels Jeux dEau, is a fine example of his impressionistic work. This study will examine his unique compositional and performing techniques in order to discover the sonority he intended and its possible influence on other composers.
