대학 스마트 교육의 영향과 부작용 최소화 방안

Abstract

대학에서 스마트 폰, 태블릿 PC 등의 스마트 기기 활용에 대한 관심이 높아지면서 대학 내 스마트 교육의 적용 가능성과 함께 부작용에 대한 우려가 제기되고 있다. 본 연구는 대학에서의 스마트 교육이 일반 교육 및 주요 영역에 가져올 긍정적 영향과 부작용을 분석하고, 부작용을 최소화할 수 있는 방안을 탐색하였다. 이를 위해 스마트 교육 관련 선행 연구 검토, 두 차례의 전문가 포럼, 교육공학 전문가 대상 설문조사 등을 통하여 관련 자료에 대한 수집 및 분석이 이루어졌다. 연구결과, 대학 내 스마트 교육의 긍정적 효과는 교육, 기술 및 산업, 사회의 세 가지 영역에서 확인되었다. 스마트 교육이 야기할 수 있는 부작용은 인지적 영역, 정의적 영역, 건강, 사회적 측면, 기술 총 다섯 가지 영역에서 확인되었다. 이상의 각 영역에서 부작용을 확인하고 이를 최소화하기 위한 방안을 도출하였다. 대학 내 스마트 교육의 긍정적 영향과 부작용에 대해 교육공학 전문가를 대상으로 설문조사를 실시한 결과, 긍정적 영향에 대해서는 전반적인 동의가 이루어진 반면, 부작용에 대해서는 전문가 간 상의한 의견이 나타난 영역도 있어 스마트 교육의 부작용을 객관적으로 증명하는 실증적 연구가 요구됨을 확인할 수 있었다.

While the interest in the utilization of smart devices such as smart phones and Tablet PCs has been increasing in universities, concerns have been raised over the applicability and side effects of smart education. In this study, the potential positive influences and side effects of smart education have been analyzed respectively in the context of higher education and the strategies mitigates its side effects have been investigated. For this, literature review related to smart learning, expert forums and survey with experts in educational technology were conducted. The results of analyses indicate that smart education in higher education can positively influence three aspects; education, technology and industry, and society. On the other hand, its side effects are classified into five aspects. It might cause divided attention and cognitive overload related to cognitive domain, and smart phone syndrome in terms of affective domain. As for health domain, it might have side effects on not only physical health like leading smart phone syndrome, but also on psychological health. Also, it might lead moral laxity in society domain, and high cost in technical domain. This study also suggests strategies to mitigate these potential side effects. The survey conducted with educational technology experts showed that it was generally agreed with the positive influences of smart education. However, the survey also revealed that not all experts agreed with its side effects, and that some reservations appeared on them, which require for more empirical research that objectively verify the side effects of smart education.
